Ashtavakra
Astavakra is born physically challenged – bent in 8 places. His father has disappeared and mother Sujatha is a single parent who has to care for the child. Grandfather Uddalaka steps in and nurtures the intellect of the child and teaches him to handle the situation. Astavakra grows up to be one of the most brilliant scholars of Uddalaka’s Gurulula and proves his mettle in the court of King Janaka.
Uddalaka is the Rishi who has given us the Chandogya Upanishad and Ashtavakra as an adult authored the Astavakra Geeta.
