IIM-B connects with Ranga Shankara and Theatre

Around 340 students from IIM Bangalore enjoyed Girish Karnad’s ‘Bikhre Bimb’ at Ranga Shankara recently. This was followed by an exclusive interaction with the cast and crew of the production which included Sri Girish Karnad (Playwright and Director), Arundhati Nag (Actor),  K M Chaitanya (Co- Director) and Padmavati Rao (Translator-from Kannada/ English to Hindi).

It was organised as part of Ranga Shankara’s Theatre Connect initiative. As a unique first in the country, Theatre Connect brings an institution or a corporate to watch a followed by an interaction and discussion on the play. The objective of this initiative is to provide exposure to the magic of Theatre.

The reactions from the students were varied. From being elated on watching a play for the first time to watching this play probably for the second/ third time. Sri Girish Karnad and the others from the cast and crew engaged them in an interesting interaction.

The Director of IIMB, Professor Pankaj Chandra also accompanied the students and agreed that management students need to be exposed to the Arts because this helps in their overall development. This was the second time that IIMB participated in this and Professor Chandra said that he would be glad to continue this trend.
